Microsystems
are like small pictures of your body in different places on your body. Few have
not heard about reflexology -- the feet as a picture of your body. An example
is that if your shoulder hurts, you will feel relief when the shoulder area
in your foot is pressed. This is a microsystem as well as those thought to be
on your face, scalp, eyes, lips, chest and abdomen, legs and back.
Clinically,
we are interested in more precise systems. This is why we use the ear and hand
microsystems for treatment. The ear microsystem, also refered to as auriculotherapy,
is the most studied and was discovered by the French in 1950 and then picked
up by the Chinese after reading about it in a German medical acupuncture journal.
Despite European influence, auriculotherapy is not well known or practiced much
in the United States.
We can access almost every part of bodily anatomy
by using
the ear. Auriculotherapy is incredibly good at treating pain control as it can
also adjust hormone and neurotransmitter levels in the body and brain. For many
discomforts of life, auriculotherapy is a simple, non-invasive answer. For many
diseases with no known Western methods of treatment, ear microsystems may be a
way to effectively reduces symptoms and increase day-to-day quality of
life. Korean Hand Acupuncture is also a microsystem used at the Hollywood
Clinic because of its success at controlling pain, especially musculoskeletal
pain. Not only is it possible to treat areas by stimulating
microsystem areas with needles, but non-needle reaction is possible as well.
We
use laser-visible and invisible electricity, and gold and silver
pellets. Practitioners and caregivers who cannot needle can learn
how to use these systems without having to train in acupuncture, per se. It
is very safe, non-invasive, and repeatable. It is not possible to hurt the patient.
If the wrong point is stimulated nothing will happen unless the body needs it.
Pathological (sick) points are the only ones stimulated and the only ones that
will work!
